Case Study: New reception area in Alnwick Industrial park

Client: Commercial Customer

Sector: Reception area painting and decorating

This customer needed a painter and decorator in Alnwick to make their reception area more welcoming and functional. After the carpenters had finished their work we got stuck in using Johnstones two part filler on all the screw holes and caulking up all architraves and skirts.

All new wood work was treated to a good coat of “Joncryl” water based primer which would allow it to be painted with the finishing coats.

Next all doors and architraves were rubbed down before a coat of Johnstones water based undercoat was applied.

As this was a busy, high traffic area the customer requested a hard wearing finish be applied to the new walls. Johnstones Acryllic Eggshell is, in my opinion the best on the market for a mid sheen tough finish.

The walls were finished with two coats of magnolia eggshell.

The doors were then finished with two coats of Oxford Blue Aqua Guard Gloss as too were the brilliant white architraves and skirting boards. The water based gloss is a great alternative to the solvent based products due to their low odour. The customer was keen to open to the public the next day and didn’t want the solvent smell to linger, which can be the case with the conventional gloss.

Finally the counter trim was treated to three coats of Johnstone light oak wood stain.

The results:

The client was very happy with their reception new area, as were their customers!.
